Yvelines is a region just west of Paris, famous for the Palace of Versailles and its sprawling gardens. Summers here are warm, often in the mid-70s F (mid-20s C), perfect for renting a bike and riding through the Forêt de Rambouillet or taking a rowboat on the Grand Canal at Versailles. In winter, temperatures drop to around 40 F (5 C), but you can still explore the 17th-century Hall of Mirrors and the King's Grand Apartments with far fewer tourists.
